About me

I’m a mom of three with a PhD in Environmental Ethics, helping parents reconnect their kids with nature through simple mindset shifts that grow wonder, gratitude and care.

What I Do

Hi, I’m Jess - mom of three, philosopher by training and lifelong overthinker about how to raise good humans in a world that’s sometimes too busy.

Before creating ReGrounded.Parenting, I spent years as an academic philosopher working in the field of Environmental Ethics (I even got my PhD in it!). I published book chapters, academic articles, lectured and presented internationally on how caring for the natural world is essential to human flourishing.

Now I bring those ideas down to earth - turning philosophy into something you can actually use between school runs and snack time.

At ReGrounded.Parenting, I help parents reconnect their kids with nature in a world of screens, speed and artificial everything.

I won't tell you to add endless hikes, outdoor adventures or beautifully planned “nature activities” to already-full family lives (those are WONDERFUL when possible, but I know they aren't always realistic).

This is for real-life families - the ones, like mine, with overflowing laundry baskets, too many plastic snack packets... and lots of good intentions.

I teach mindsets that grow connection.

Because when kids learn to notice, name and feel connected to the living world around them, they naturally start to connect and care for it.

And when parents shift from “doing more” to seeing differently, ordinary family life becomes full of small opportunities to grow wonder, gratitude and connection.

Who It’s For

This is for the parents in the (messy) middle:

  • The ones who look at a world of screens, speed and artificial everything and want their kids to stay connected to what’s real.

  • The ones who want their kids to notice the birds and trees and sky, understand that their food didn’t begin in a plastic packet and grow up with some sense of gratitude and wonder for the living world around them.

  • The ones who care deeply about the planet but are already at full capacity.

  • The ones who want their kids to grow up kind, curious and grounded, but can’t handle another “to-do”.

If you’ve ever felt: “I want this for my kids, but I just can’t do it all,” then you’re in the right place.

You don’t need to plan daily “nature time” to raise kids who feel connected to nature.

Why It’s Special

Because this isn’t about doing more.

It’s about seeing differently.

Most nature-connection advice starts with taking kids somewhere “out there”: more hikes, more outdoor adventures and more planned activities.

All lovely.

But... nature is already woven through the most ordinary parts of our children’s lives: the fruit they eat, the rain running down the road, the tree shading the playground and the birds watching them from the garden.

ReGrounded.Parenting starts there.

It’s a realistic, human and hopeful approach where philosophy meets parenthood in the everyday moments that shape our kids’ values.

I bring together years of research in environmental ethics and my lived experience as a mother to make big ideas feel simple and doable. No judgment. No jargon. Just small mindset shifts that help kids notice, connect and care.
